Update: Daughter's Car Gone! For FREE!

The word FREE works wonders. After sitting for more than a year, my daughter's car is: GONE! While she has been off having adventures, her car has sat here with dead battery, fuel leak and expired tabs, growing that brand of mold that only a car in the Northwest grows when it sits for too long and is DEAD.

It could be a good car again with the proper TLC, a new battery, the fuel leak fixed, and the tabs updated. But she was not interested in putting in the money and neither was I who already has 2 problematic cars to maintain. And so it sat DEAD until today, taking up space and being an 'issue' between us.

This car always ran, in fact it ran well, as we drove it clear across the country from Chicago when she turned 16. It was a gift from my sister, who gave it to my daughter for FREE when she no longer needed it. (The photo above is of Alia on the day she got her liscence when she was 16.)

Yesterday the FREE sign finally went up, and today we had a customer. He put a battery in and it started right up. He took it for a drive and soon we were shaking hands and signing papers and it was GONE, GONE, GONE.

Can you say: HAPPY!?! It was just the right person for the car. He had tools and car know-how, and seemed excited with the project as he is a Native American fellow who plans to fix it up and drive it down to Arizona and give it to his sister on the res as a gift. He said cars are at a premium on the reservation and it would really be appreciated. My daughter and I both feel good about that. We're feeling so good that it's gone that we're going out to celebrate by taking ourselves out to lunch, but unlike the car, the lunch won't be FREE.
